New Backcountry Snowmobile Service Launches in Sheridan, Wy

SHERIDAN, WY-- Sled Wyo, a backcountry snowmobile guide service, announced today they will begin accepting reservations for guided tours of the Bighorns Mountains effective December 1st. Sled Wyo’s season runs from December 1st to April 30th; travelers are encouraged to book their tours now.

“Sled Wyo’s goal is to provide a memorable winter experience for snowmobile enthusiasts interested in the Bighorn backcountry,” said Jeff Shanor, president of Sled Wyo. “Those seeking an adrenaline-packed snowmobile adventure can experience true mountain riding firsthand when they’re out with our guides. Our guides are experienced backcountry riders with intimate knowledge of the mountains. They know the finest terrain, the best areas, and how to stay safe while having fun.”

“Winter recreation is big business in the Bighorn Mountains,” said Shawn Parker, executive director of Sheridan Travel & Tourism. “Sheridan Travel & Tourism is making a renewed push to encourage outdoor enthusiasts from the Midwest to visit Sheridan this winter; the Bighorns offer incredible opportunities for snowmobiling, x-country skiing, ice climbing, fat biking and more. Sled Wyo has an opportunity to attract even more riders from South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and other states. If Sled Wyo can bring in even 100 more riders to the Bighorns, that can equal $50,000 more in local economic impact.”

Snowmobiling’s economic impact on the Bighorn Mountains and Sheridan is sizeable. On average, each winter recreation enthusiast spends 3 days in local lodging and spends $160 per day on accomodations, food & beverages, gasoline, groceries and more. Wyoming as whole sees $146.8 million in expenditures from snowmobilers alone with a total economic contribution of $175.8 million.

Jeff Shanor is currently studying business administration with an emphasis on marketing at Sheridan College and is an intern at Sheridan Travel & Tourism. Jeff has been snowmobiling in the Bighorns since he was three years old and has been a sponsored athlete by Ski-Doo, Valley Motor Honda, Action Motorsports, Sledthreads, and Nekkr.

Sled Wyo is a backcountry snowmobile guide service based out of Sheridan, Wyoming. They work with local businesses to help drive snowmobilers their direction and create a more memorable experience when visiting the Bighorns. Sled Wyo helps snowmobilers plan and organize their trip to Sheridan to ensure they are aware of everything this community has to offer. Sled Wyo can arrange rentals for riders who don’t have their own. The ultimate goal is to make sure snowmobilers leave Sheridan with a desire to return in the years to come.
